It should be simple enough to do.
If you have Norton or McCafee already on your compuer. you will have to uninstall them before you can install some other programs. This can be a difficult task sometimes. Go to symtech site and download ''Norton removal tool'' or McCaffe has a removal tool available also.
Like everyone has said. You have to make sure that all other anti virus programs are removed from your system first. I recommend going to www.filehippo.com and downloading AVG Free.Instead of installing it, save it to your documents, then get off line, go to your control panel, then add %26 remove programs and remove your current antivirus program. Do a restart, then open up your documents, click on the AVG Free program and follow the prompts.I've used Norton and MacAfee and AVG kicks there butt. They give you automatic updates at what ever time of the day you choose and if you ever have a problem with it they have a forum that will give you answers.AVG found way more virus problems then either one of the other ones combined.
Get a router it has a natural firewall and then run a firewall if u want antivirus software is something not needed if you are careful and run a router. anti virus software will mess with a lot of programs u try and run.

Make sure you have uninstalled any other anti-virus programs before installing a new one. Rarely can you have 2 installed.
It depends on your operating system. If you are using windows vista there's no surprise about that. I tried installing norton anti virus and it wouldn't work. What i did was download the trial version of norton then i typed in my activation and now i can use it for one year.
start, go to control panel, go to ad/remove programs, find it on your scroll down menue, delete it . defraig the dard drive. THEN. come back to add/ remove programs. put the disk in the pc, then go to install programs and click ok or start. The instalation wizzard, ought to take over from there and do the rest.
Often one anti-virus software program won't install when another one is already there. For example, a friend of mine had Norton and tried to install Kapersky. No dice! Norton had to be rubbed out. Problem is sometimes, one antivirus gets proprietary and wants to ''own the turf''. Or sometimes, one antivirus looks and thinks the other is a virus itself!
be sure you have administrator or at least enough privlidges on your user account to install programs. if you do then
