Someone said I wouldn't need anti-virus software on a Macbook, why?

is that even true? it's on my other question about macs.

Someone said I wouldn't need anti-virus software on a Macbook, why?free spyware

because macs dont get viruses because no hackers uses them and there to lazy to make viruses for them and why would you want to they aready wrk bad enough

Someone said I wouldn't need anti-virus software on a Macbook, why?live update

common viruses floating around tend to affect windows system files and take advantage of flaws in windows security which is easier to do than on a Mac. However, since being on the internet, downloading files, emails and attachments and such I do have Norton anti-virus. But I have had this computer for over 3 years and haven't had one virus detected.
It is not even true.

You do need to install the anti-virus on your Mac Computer.
Most if not all computers in the corporate/business envionment run Windows and that's what the hackers and criminals are after: lucrative data - generally, Macs aren't a target but they are still vulnerable to certain OS specific threats or cross platform threats; even if you run Windows on a Mac the Mac itself isn't the target. If you are worried about viruses on a Mac, here are some pointers

In the meantime just be thankful you own a Mac - not only are you more secure, but you are cooler too.
